An away fixture against Newmarket would be a good test to see how team has progressed following a recent run of good form.  We were faced with a strong side playing on a very large pitch.  They also played with two attackers - is not something we have played against before - and a very high press. On reflection , we probably needed to be more direct, but a willingness to show confidence on the ball in all areas of the pitch is to be encouraged and applauded.  The consequence of this though was that for periods of the game we struggled to break out of our defensive third.  As always, it is a learning curve for us all, including me, and we should all be stronger for the experience.  Some excellent goalkeeping displays by Mia (for three quarters) and Alex in particular helped to keep us in the game and as the game progressed we got to grips better with the opposition’s tactics. The highlight was the third quarter (of five!) when an excellent breakaway from defence saw Samuel break from defence into midfield before passing the ball into Flynn's path, who carried the ball forward before a firm shot at goal went through the Newmarket goalkeeper and into the net. During that quarter Henry and Alex had formed an excellent barrier in front of Patrick and there was nothing between the teams. The fourth and fifth quarters saw us only lose by just the one goal and quite how we lost that final quarter is difficult to fathom given we had something like about 5 one-on-one's.  Alex continued his recent excellent run of form and other notable mentions should go to Patrick (who was playing with a virus) and to Henry, who exhibited much greater awareness of the players around him.  Player of the match though was awarded to Mia, who was excellent in goal and showed some fantastic handling skills.
