Match Report |
A short report today, as we have no goals to describe, although it is difficult to believe that is the case. A disjointed build up to the game - apologies, I did tell the opposition that I couldn’t open the directions they provided, but I was roundly ignored - saw us arrive in dribs and drabs right up until kick off, which is never ideal. Nevertheless, we set about our task well and played some good football. Chances were created and we were the better side overall, but we weren’t able to capitalise, unlike our opponents who had much fewer chances but were more clinical. During the second half we did lapse into feeding the ball into Henry to shoot from distance, without giving him any forward options to do otherwise, but in fairness Henry tested the keeper virtually every time. If it hadn’t been for an inspired performance from the Over Sport’s goalkeeper, who was the player of the match by some distance, we probably would have come back, but it wasn’t to be. A good game, played in the right spirit, concluded with the Over Sports’ coaches both commenting that we were the much better side and were unlucky to lose, but that is football. Of note: Henry played very well again, as did Joseph, Alex and Samuel, but player of the match was awarded to Patrick who was excellent. Well done everyone though - at this age it is all about the players improving rather than results and I am pleased to say that they are doing this week on week.
