Match Report |
Witchford Colts were our guests and, for the first time this season, we had a full squad in attendance. We played extremely well and largely dominated proceedings. Our first goal came from an Alex corner, which was cleared back to him before he passed to Patrick, who scored. A second was notched when Alfie marauded down the left wing, dribbling half the length of the pitch, before passing to Patrick who fed the ball into Flynn path to shoot with his right foot. There were concerns the chance had gone when Flynn turned onto his left foot, but he still managed to work the ball into the goal. Very much against the run of play, Witchford Colts then halved the deficit by pouncing on our attempt to play the ball out of defence - this will happen from time to time, but isn’t a reason to change our football philosophy. Onto the second half, now kicking downhill, and the game followed a similar pattern. Henry was having more of an influence on the game now and after a good run he passed to Patrick, who unleashed a powerful finish into the bottom corner. Henry then got on the scoresheet himself when he received a throw in from Albie on the halfway line and dribbled the ball forward, before unleashing a fierce drive into the Witchford goal. A very good team performance all round, with everyone playing really well. Of special note were the performances of Henry, Patrick and Albie, but the player of the match was awarded to Joseph - he will (and has) had games where he has a lot more shots to save, but he really tried to implement all that I asked him to do in terms of his distribution and positioning, to great effect.
