Farewell Kevin
Kevin Jinks was today laid to rest. A packed St Mary's Church in Stansted heard some of Kevin's closest friends recall fond memories of him. Fittingly for an avid Leeds fan, Kevin was taken from the church to a chorus of Marching on Together. A fine turn out from the EYFC under-10 boys, who all did Kevin and the club proud in their green Elsenham shirts. RIP Kevin, you'll never be forgetten.

Kevin Jinks
Kevin Jinks

It is with great shock and much sadness that EYFC have to announce the tragic passing of our U10 assistant manager Kevin Jinks. He was aged just 45.

Kevin was a larger than life character whose passion and motivation for the game was infectious. Often the first to arrive at the training ground and usually the last to leave, he was never short of a word or three to say about the game we all love. This passion was reflected in the love and devotion he showed to the club, but even more so the U10 team. Kevin was extremely proud of the team and all that they achieved, finishing on a season high with winning the league and only narrowly losing out in a cup final. The generosity he showed for the team was incredible, not only did his company sponsor the boys kits, but he also regularly treated them - hats and league winning T-shirts, even a burger or 2!

Kev was a fantastic, unique individual who will leave a huge void in the team and club he loved so much. He does, however, leave behind him a great legacy in the form of a team of boys who now share his passion for the game. We at EYFC are all sure Kevin will be looking down on the lads with glowing pride when the season starts again in September.

At this difficult time, all our thoughts and prayers go out to Kevinís family and friends, and indeed all those that he touched in his short life.

If you wish to leave your own tribute to Kevin, please do feel free to do so by clicking onto our guestbook and enter a message or comment about this true gent of the game.
Kevin, rest in peace good friend. Everyone at the club will miss you so very much. Youíll never be forgotten and your legacy will live with the club forever.

A massive weekend coming up
Three of our teams have crucial games this weekend, the outcome of which will go a long way to determining issues at both ends of the table. The under-13s visit fellow title contenders Wymondley Park knowing that a win would almost certainly guarantee them the league. Meanwhile, the under-10s face a double header against their sole title challengers Sumners Vipers, while the under-15s have a relegation six-pointer against Lea Sports PSG. Try to get along to the games and give the boys your support.

Fran Steele: Elsenham to England!
Former EYFC player Fran Steele made her international debut on Monday evening, coming on as a half-time substitute in the England under-15 women team's 2-1 defeat against the Netherlands. After a good performance, she was given a starting role in a second game against the same opponents on Wednesday afternoon, scoring England's first goal in a 2-2 draw. Fran, who now plays her football for Ipswich Town, was part of the club's successful under-12 side of two years ago, scoring her last goal in a 14-3 win over Melbourn Dynamos in April 2009. Congratulations from all of us here at EYFC.

Weekend headlines
A double from Fabian Augustan-Brown helps the under-9 Dragons to an opening day success, while the under-17s also get their campaign off to a winning start. Luke Cooper's late, late strike earns the under-14s a point at Bedwell, while a similarly late effort denies the under-12s a draw against Baldock. The under-11 Cougars are also undone by two late goals at Barmond, while the under-8s and under-9 Raptors slip to first-day defeats. See the team pages for more.
