Second-half goals from Dean Clayden and Mason Duckett give the under-14s midweek victory at Sawbridgeworth and put the team on the brink of winning the championship. See the team page for details.
The under-14's title challenge takes a knock with defeat at Potton, while the under-10s are denied by a late equaliser in a six goal thriller against Grampian. See the team pages for details and reports.
Sunday's under-14 fixture against Sawbridgeworth will now be away as our main pitch is currently unplayable. The under-12's home game against Potton and the under-8 match against Markhall will be played at home as scheduled.
November was a perfect month for our under-8 and under-14 teams. The under-8s scored 25 goals in winning their three games in the month, while the under-14s won all four of their matches without conceding a goal. Congratulations!
Paul has been nominated for an Uttlesford District Council Community
Achievement Award for his dedication and commitment to the club since it started in 2000 and will collect his award at a reception evening in February 2008.
Congratulations Paul.
The club is delighted to announce that it has been awarded Charter Standard status by the Football Association. To achieve the award, the club successfully demonstrated to the FA that it has set sufficiently high standards in terms of discipline, organisation and best practice. Attaining Charter Standard status marks a significant step forward in the club's development.
Due to some unexpected departures, next season's under-9 team require new players for next season. Please contact team manager Trevor Steele if you know someone that may be interested in joining.
The 2006 season was the best yet for the club in terms of on-the-field success. The under-14s secured our first ever major trophy by winning the Harlow League Cup, defeating league winners Saturn in the final. The team also finished runners-up in their division, an accolade shared by the under-13s, who also reached the quarter-finals of the Royston Crow League Cup. The under-16s finished their season by winning the Sporting 77 5-a-side tournament in Braintree, defeating Blackshot Colts on penalties in the final. Among the younger age groups, the under-8s and 10s both ended the season with winning records, while the under-9s and 11s showed plenty of promise for the future. Well done to everyone and here's hoping 2007 is even better!
The club's annual Presentation Evening was held at Elsenham Bowls Club on Saturday, June 16. Both sessions for the younger and older age groups were very well attended, so much so that the Bowls Club sold out of beer!
For the first time, we were able to show photographs of all age groups on a big screen, for which we must say a big thank you to Pippa Alabaster.
